Presented to the staff representative bodies, “the proposal to close the Toulouse base is due to a combination of factors, including a slower post-Covid recovery and inflationary pressure” which affects “easyJet‘s ability to invest further in France”, the carrier explained in a press release. “EasyJet is committed to continuing to serve Toulouse as a destination and to offering flights to Toulouse, connecting the city to major destinations in France and internationally”, it nevertheless promised.
Two easyJet aircraft are currently based in the Pink City, serving 20 destinations. The airline employs 125 people there.
The closure project, in March 2025, plans to offer “each of the employees” concerned “to continue their activity within another French base of the company, and the transfer of the two easyJet planes currently based in Toulouse to other bases of the company in France”, according to the company. More broadly, easyJet plans “the transfer of a plane from Roissy to Orly and a limited voluntary departure plan for cabin crew at three of the company’s French bases”, with a target of around thirty employees out of a current workforce of 1,800. “Our proposal does not provide for any forced departures and during this consultation our teams will remain our priority”, assured easyJet’s director for France, Bertrand Godinot.

The National Union of Commercial Flight Personnel (SNPNC-FO), representing flight attendants, “firmly” condemned this decision Tuesday evening in a press release and asked management to “reconsider its position”. For the SNPNC-FO, “this base has shown very encouraging results in recent months and years”.
According to the company’s press release, easyJet “wants to continue to grow in France and is planning in particular to increase its capacity by more than 5% this winter”. This restructuring, easyJet stated, “is an integral part of the company’s long-term strategy to sustain its activities on the French market” and will allow it “to seize growth opportunities and maintain its position as the second airline in France”.
