The Shopping in Indonesia Movement has been launched by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs represented by the Deputy for Coordination of Trade and Industry Ali Murtopo Simbolon, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs represented by the Assistant Deputy for Regions and Supply Chains Ali, the General Chairperson of HIPPINDO, Budihardjo Iduansjah, the Chairperson of the IRS Committee, Haryanto Pratantara and the Chairperson of the Harmoni Award, Fetty Kwartati in a series of events for the 2024 Indonesia Retail Summit.

The Association of Indonesian Retailers & Shopping Center Tenants (Hippindo) has successfully initiated the Just Shop in Indonesia Movement. The movement has been inaugurated by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.

“The Shopping in Indonesia Aja Movement is an initiative of Hippindo and is welcomed by the Ministry. We hope this can strengthen domestic trade so that it has a significant impact on the national economy,” said Hippindo Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah through an official statement, Thursday (5/9).

One of the main impacts is increasing domestic income by keeping foreign exchange in the country. By encouraging people to shop in the country, money will not flow abroad. MSMEs will also get more income so they can grow stronger.

“This must also be balanced by encouraging local products of higher quality so that people or foreign tourists will be more encouraged to spend their money in Indonesia. This certainly provides double benefits. In addition to driving the tourism sector, it also increases shopping tourism,” added Budi.
