INDONESIA added another medal to its Paralympics medal tally at the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the athletics category. Karisma Evi Tiarani won a silver medal in the women’s 100m.
In the race at the Stade de France, Paris, Sunday (8/9) early morning WIB, Karisma Evi, who was actually classified T42, competed in number T63.
She successfully won silver after posting a time of 14.26 seconds in the final round. The achievement sharpened the world record for the T42 classification which was previously also recorded by Karisma Evi in qualification with 14.34 seconds.
The gold medal was won by Italy’s Martina Caironi with a time of 14.16 seconds. The bronze medal was won by England’s Ndidikama Okoh with a time of 14.59 seconds.
The result makes Indonesia so far successfully collect 14 medals with a breakdown of one gold, eight silver, and five bronze. Meanwhile, the Indonesian para-athletics team contributed two silvers.
Meanwhile, Saptoyogo Purnomo in the 200 meter T37 classification broke his personal record in the race which took place on Saturday (7/9).

Saptoyogo reached the finish with a time of 23.26 seconds. However, Saptoyogo was in fifth place for the T37 classification and could not add any more medals. He had previously contributed one silver for the 100-meter T37 classification.
“I’m happy to break my personal record, but I’m also a bit dissatisfied because I only came in fifth. I want to get another medal,” said Saptoyogo. (Z-6)
