Crafts must be part of the educational process as a heritage identity

On Wednesday, September 4, the theoretical-practical workshop and discussion on the importance of crafts was held at the Casa de los Saberes Josefa Sulbaran, the explanatory presentation on the topic was given by Yamirian Torresteacher and cultural promoter from the state of Monagas.

After commenting on his experience in artisanal art, he stated that craftsmanship as a pedagogical strategy is the object of strengthening artisanal development in the educational environment.

Specifying that the purpose of the conversation workshop is to reflect on the pedagogical and androgenous aspect of the meaning of crafts at all levels, seeking that collective cultural organizations be a constant artisanal movement as a pedagogical strategy.

Since “the artisanal identity as our own, original, as ancestral knowledge of our people” has been lost.

Torres mentioned that the experience of the third pedagogical craft congress, where 38 schools participated, made it clear that they do not take into account the study of crafts, but rather it is an indigenous manifestation, despite the fact that the living book and the village teacher have been in fashion, they have only dedicated themselves to what is called Crafts, which is different from crafts since this is part of the community identity of the people.

The teacher and cultural promoter explained that crafts as an educational practice has to do with language, the oral tradition of people and the symbolism of popular terms.

Feeling and knowledge

Demonstrating at the same time that as a science, it is immersed in nature, as raw material, it is in the environment that serves for economic sustainability.

Craftsmanship is present in mathematics since when processed it becomes numbers, measurements, sums and figures.

If it is in the social sphere -Torres said- it is memory, it is self-knowledge, it rests on the human factor, it is identity.

Highlighting that memory and identity cannot be lost, and this leads us to affirm that at an educational level, craftsmanship is not only a socioeconomic project, this goes further, since each piece has a charge of human energy, artisanal production is a spiritual relationship, which contains feelings and knowledge.

Concluding that communities and schools must teach children and adolescents the identity and artistic value of crafts, promoting artisanal work as a productive, sustainable and sustainable aspect for the common good with the essence of heritage identification.

The event was coordinated by Nuvia Uribe of the Arts Network of the Trujillo State Institute of Culture, who welcomed cultural promoters from the municipalities of San Rafael de Carvajal, Valera, Escuque, Rafael Rangel, Trujillo, among others.

While Roberto Ramírez, member of the Trujillo State Community Network, highlighted that the workshop is a product of Planning framed within Community Vacation Plans.

At the end of the workshop, the speaker gave a series of explanations on how to make crafts.
