Am Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. rbb presenter Andreas Ulrich reads from his new book in the multi-generational house Buntes Haus, Hellersdorfer Promenade 14, 12627 Berlin.
The author: Andreas Ulrich, born in Berlin in 1960, is a reporter and presenter for rbb television and radioeins. His topics are sport, politics and contemporary history. As an author, Ulrich has been telling stories about people’s lives in Berlin for years. In 2005, he published “Two Kilometers of Germany” with 25 portraits from Swinemünder Strasse. In 2015, Ulrich told stories from his childhood home in Berlin-Mitte in “Torstrasse 94”.
The book: Between 1969 and 1973, a unique high-rise district was built in the center of Berlin, at the southern end of the Spree Island. In addition to large families, the striking new buildings on Fischerinsel were primarily occupied by artists, scientists, officials and diplomats – everyday life in the GDR met celebrities and extravagance here. Andreas Ulrich’s family also lived on Fischerinsel for a while. Five decades later, Ulrich has set out to find his former schoolmates to find out what became of them. His research took him far beyond Berlin and revealed moving and extraordinary life stories.
