Already prosecuted for sexual violence, former Secretary of State Jean-Vincent Placé was indicted on Friday, September 6, for sexual assault on a second woman in the judicial investigation targeting him in Paris since March 2022, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned from a source close to the case.

Aged 56, the latter is suspected of having sexually assaulted a woman during the first quarter of 2017, in Seoul, South Korea. The lawyer of this second plaintiff, Me Tewfik Bouzenoune, did not wish to comment. Mr. Placé’s lawyer, Me Jade Dousselin, could not be reached immediately.

This indictment comes in addition to an initial indictment of Mr. Placé, already prosecuted for sexual assault and sexual harassment by a person abusing the authority conferred by his position, against a former colleague.

The latter, who had followed him from the Senate to the Secretary of State for Reform and Simplification (2016-2017), had filed a complaint in November 2021, accusing the former Green elected official of sexual harassment between 2012 and 2016. In her complaint, some of the facts denounced also amounted to sexual assault.
