This weekend, the TOP 14 returns with the first day of the best rugby championship in the world.
The locomotive of the National Rugby League (LNR), the TOP 14 benefits in France from the unwavering support of the exclusive broadcaster CANAL+. A few months ago, the CANAL+ Group extended its contract with the TOP 14 and the PRO D2 for a record amount of 696.8 million euros over 5 seasons (2027-2032).
Pending the entry into force of this new contract, The National Rugby League will have a budget of 173.4 million euros for the 2024-2025 season, as detailed by the LNR.
“On an economic level, we want to continue the virtuous circle at work in French professional rugby. The securing and further progression of audiovisual rights for the 2027-2032 cycle is a major asset in this respect: it allows professional rugby to look to the future with confidence and to continue its investment dynamic, benefiting from the editorial know-how of our partner CANAL+ and the quality of the exposure of our competitions on its channels.” explain Emmanuel Eschalier, General Director of the LNRduring the back-to-school press briefing organized at the start of the week.
A record for marketing revenues this season
If CANAL+ contributes largely to the LNR’s revenues with TV rights, the LNR can boast this season of having stocked up on sponsors for the TOP 14 with a sold-out programme.
For this 24-25 season, the TOP 14 has 22 partners. And with the PRO D2 and the In Extenso Super Sevens, LNR marketing revenue reaches its highest historical level with 25 million euros.
Last season, the TOP 14 notably welcomed TotalEnergies as a new partner, a contract signed until 2026, as well as The Dietrich until 2027. Betclic and La Poste have decided to renew their partnerships with the LNR. The sports betting operator is notably associated with the “TOSS Betclic” to determine who kicks off and on which side each team plays.
