The Tnuva Board‘s Visit to Kibbutz Alumim
The Tnuva Board of Directors, led by Chairman Haim Gavrieli, convened this morning at Kibbutz Alumim in Otaf, demonstrating solidarity and support for local communities. Following the meeting, board members toured the Alomim dairy farm, which suffered significant damage on October 7.
Tour Highlights
During the tour of Alumim Farm, members of the board were joined by Tnuva CEO Gadi Konya, deputy CEO Anat Gros-Shon, and others including Efri Raikin, who oversees the raw milk department. They engaged with key figures such as Avi Freiman, manager of Alumim Dairy, and Tamir Aidan, head of the Negev Fields Regional Council.
The Impact of October 7
Kibbutz Alumim experienced a tragic blow on October 7, when 25 people lost their lives and three were kidnapped. The dairy farm, which had recently undergone renovations, was also targeted by terrorists. Despite the chaos, the dairy farmers quickly returned to their operations to restore the farm and continue milking the cows.
Support for Dairy Farmers
Haim Gabrieli, Chairman of the Tnuva Board of Directors, stated: “Tnuva has long-standing relationships with about 1,000 Israeli dairy farms, crucial for the food security of Israel. From the onset of the war, we have supported them by establishing the Dairy Farmers’ Fund for Otef dairy farms, which has facilitated the rapid restoration of infrastructure. Funds have been allocated for new equipment, renovations, and purchasing tractors.”
Community Gratitude
Tamir Aidan, Head of the Sdot Negev Regional Council, expressed: “In challenging times, true friendships emerge. Your support warms our hearts and offers encouragement. On behalf of Sdot Negev residents, we deeply appreciate the generous donations. Tnuva’s quick response has greatly aided our dairy farms’ recovery, symbolizing hope for the entire region.”
Investment in Recovery
Tnuva established a fund at the beginning of the war, investing approximately NIS 15 million in the rehabilitation of Otaf cattle farms. Significant resources have already been dedicated to restoring various settlements including Nir Oz, Nir Am, Nir Yitzhak, Sofa, Nahal Oz, Ein HaSholoshka, Alumim, Yad Mordechai, and Baror Hail. Additionally, Tnuva is assisting in rebuilding Kibbutz Kissufim’s dairy farm, named in memory of the late Reuven Heinik.
