Tnuva Board Shows Solidarity with Otef Communities
Special Meeting at Kibbutz Alumim
The Tnuva Board of Directors, led by Chairman Haim Gavrieli, convened this morning at Kibbutz Alumim in Otaf to show support for the local communities affected by recent events. Following the meeting, board members toured the Alomim dairy farm, which sustained significant damage on October 7.
Visit to Alumim Dairy Farm
During the visit, the board members were accompanied by Gadi Konya, CEO of Tnuva, and Anat Gros-Shon, Deputy CEO. They were guided by Efri Raikin, manager of the raw milk department, and met with various local leaders, including Avi Freiman, manager of Alumim Dairy, and Tamir Aidan, head of the Negev Fields Regional Council.
Impact of Recent Events
Kibbutz Alumim faced a tragic event on October 7, with the loss of 25 lives and three individuals kidnapped to Gaza. The dairy farm’s milking parlor had been renovated shortly before the incident and suffered further damage during the attack. Despite the challenges, local dairy farmers returned to their farm four days after the outbreak of hostilities to initiate recovery efforts and resume milking operations.
Support for Dairy Farmers
Haim Gabrieli, Chairman of the Tnuva Board of Directors, emphasized Tnuva’s longstanding relationship with approximately 1,000 Israeli dairy farms, crucial for the country’s food security. Since the war’s onset, Tnuva has been committed to supporting these farmers, establishing the Dairy Farmers’ Fund to aid in the rapid restoration of infrastructure, including the purchase of new tractors and renovation of facilities.
Community Appreciation
Tamir Aidan, head of the Sdot Negev Regional Council, expressed gratitude for Tnuva’s quick response and generous support, highlighting the importance of restoring the dairy farms as a symbol of recovery for the entire region. Aidan remarked on the strength that community ties provide during challenging times.
Investment in Rehabilitation
Tnuva has committed approximately NIS 15 million to rehabilitate Otef dairy farms, with funds already allocated for restoring barns in various settlements, including Nir Oz, Nir Am, and others. The company is also supporting the rebuilding of Kibbutz Kissufim’s dairy farm, named in honor of Reuven Heinik, who tragically lost his life at the farm’s site at the war’s beginning.
