INTERNATIONAL relations (IR) observer Khairi Fuady appreciates the holding of two international forums, namely the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) 2024 and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 1-3 September 2024.

According to the graduate of International Relations from the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, the two international forums are Indonesia’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in African countries.

“What is currently taking place in Bali at the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) 2024 and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) is Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to support Sustainable Development in Africa,” said Khairi in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/9).

He added, at the HLF MSP 2024 and the 2nd IAF, Indonesia demonstrated its commitment to building South-South Cooperation (SSC) and injecting a number of aids for 23 African countries through the Indonesian AID program. The program focuses on Food Sovereignty, Health, Infrastructure, and Conflict Resolution.

Khairi said that President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) leadership for almost a decade has been able to strengthen Indonesia’s existence in the international arena. In fact, various international activities held in Indonesia have an impact on policies at the global level.

“Almost a decade of Mr. Jokowi’s leadership, our morale and mentality on the international stage are increasingly upright. In fact, Indonesia appears not only as a recipient country, but also a donor country,” he said.

Previously, in his opening remarks at the 2024 HLF MSP and the 2nd IAF, President Jokowi called for global solidarity to take more real and concrete actions in addressing the economic slowdown, unemployment rate, inflation, and geopolitical tensions that have disrupted the global supply chain.

The President said, to achieve more equitable and inclusive development for developing countries, new strategies and tactical steps are needed that focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). (Z-1)
