The alpinists had entered the ice field while descending along the back ridge, reported the online medium “stol.it”. They fell into rocky terrain, and two alpinists were seriously injured. The two were flown to the hospital in Bolzano by helicopter. Their colleagues were slightly injured.
The latter two were also rescued by emergency helicopter and taken to the hospital in Schlanders. Several mountain rescue teams, the White Cross and the Carabinieri were involved.
