The Election Commission of Pakistan has excused itself from briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on the salaries of commission members, employees, expenses and general election expenses. And adopted the position that the Election Commission is an independent constitutional body, not subordinate to any ministry.
According to Naji TV, the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held a meeting under the chairmanship of Humayun Mohmand, the agenda of which was to ask for details of election commission members, employees’ salaries, travel expenses and February 8 election contributions. According to the report, the Secretary of the Election Commission wrote a letter to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, in which he said that there is no voting in the National Assembly on the budget of the Election Commission, the Election Commission is not bound to give the requested information to the committee.
