Kriyanusa 2024 Showcases Featured Products from 22 Young Craftsmen

SMESCO Indonesia showcases various superior products from 22 young craftsmen at the Kriyanusa 2024 event, an exhibition entitled “Young Craftsmen, Preserve Cultural Heritage” held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Jakarta, from August 28 to September 1, 2024.

Smesco Indonesia President Director Wientor Rah Mada explained that this exhibition inspired young artisans of Smesco’s partner craft products to participate in committing to continuing the art of ancestral crafts. “They present the best products including souvenirs and home decorations with a touch of product design that updates classic installations to be combined with interior elements of the room that can accompany our activities from morning to night,” said Smesco Indonesia President Director Wientor Rah Mada in his official statement quoted on Sunday (1/9).

The 22 young craftsmen SMEs come from DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Yogyakarta, Central Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, and North Sumatra. “The direction of this collaboration is not only focused on product marketing, but also improving the capabilities of business actors,” said Wientor.

Wientor ensures that in the future, young SMEs partners of Smesco who participate in the Kriyanusa exhibition organized by Dekranas, are expected to be more mature in creating quality products. “Including business performance, adaptability to market absorption, to potential business expansion,” said Wientor.

Wientor added that Wastraloka successfully achieved positive circulation by recording a transaction value of Rp24.5 million on the first day of the exhibition. “Smesco displays superior products from 8 provinces. We are optimistic that sales growth during the 5-day exhibition from young craftsmen who are partners of Smesco will be able to achieve a positive target,” said Wientor.

Meanwhile, the SME owner of the Wastraloka brand from Yogyakarta, Eni Anjayani, said that in 2014 she saw an opportunity in Indonesia, especially Jogja, for handicraft products. In that area, she said, it was still rare to find crafts (handmade) or custom design which documents Indonesian batik or textile motifs on other media.

Interestingly, some of the materials Eni uses to make crafts such as cracker cans, traditional teapot set, tray, candle holder, and stool These are leftover cans from refrigerator factories, such as galvalum and stainless for the refrigerator body, the material is then combined with natural materials such as wood and rattan. “Among them, the products exhibited at Kriyanusa are coffee tumblers with a design clean white with a birth enzyme motif,” said Eni.

Furthermore, Eni said, the experience of participating in the Kriyanusa exhibition from Smesco was very important for SMEs, especially in helping participants to increase sales and branding. “Moreover, Smesco is also quite active in introducing products to potential buyers,” said Eni. (S-1)
