The Civil Society Coalition of Police Reform made a report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Monday (2/9). The complaint relates to allegations mark up in the procurement of tear gas in 2021 to 2022.
“Alleged indications mark up “This has reached IDR 26 billion, this has been conveyed to the KPK leadership,” said member of the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) Investigation Division Agus Sunaryanto at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Monday (2/9).
Agus said the report was based on the results of his investigation into the monitoring of how police dispersed the demonstrators with tear gas some time ago. The results of the investigation indicated alleged corruption that is now being reported.
“The budget used is sourced from the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN),” said Agus.
The KPK was asked to follow up on the report. Moreover, Agus said, the amount is not small.
The KPK’s assertiveness is considered not to damage the image of the Police if the complaint is followed up. In fact, said Agus, the Anti-Corruption Agency helps the Bhayangkara Corps improve.
“Corruption that occurs or involves law enforcement officers will actually damage the image of law enforcement itself,” said Agus. (P-5)
