Children in a Vietnamese village are forced to risk their lives to go to school and a video of them is going viral on social media and is being watched in amazement around the world.
In this video, it can be seen that the children of the primary class are seated in a large plastic bag filled with air and a man floats the bag to the other side.
Children from Huai Ha, a village in Vietnam’s Dien Binh province, first walk several kilometers to the riverside to get an education. After that, the elders there put the children in a big plastic bag and put it in the river while swimming and drag the children to the other side.
On normal days, children travel by making a boat out of pieces of bamboo, but when the water in the river rises, crossing it is not without danger. For this, the volunteers on the river bank put at least 50 children in bags. They wade the river, but this process is also not without danger, because a slight negligence can save the child from death due to the waves.
The school children are scared but determined because they want to study and know that education can lift them out of poverty, says Wa Gyeong, an expert in this field. The residents here have been requesting the government to build the bridge for a long time, but the government has not responded.
