Argentines will pay higher fuel and utility bills in September

The government of Javier Milei will apply another increase to the price of fuel and basic services on September 1, as part of the neoliberal economic plans that it is promoting in Argentina with the aim of reducing public subsidies.

The price of naphtha, as Argentines call gasoline, continues to rise monthly as part of the adjustment plan that affects citizens’ pockets and next Sunday it will increase between 2,5 and 3% of its current price.

Gasoline and diesel varieties will exceed 1.000 pesos per liter and will occupy four digits on the screen for the first time in 32 years, reports Página12.

Starting this month, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, authorized an increase in electricity and gas prices to reduce spending on energy subsidies. Since Javier Milei took office, the value of fuels has increased by 135% in the first seven months of the year, well above the 86% accumulated inflation.

This week, the increase in the Aysa water rate was also confirmed. It will be 4,48% and will start to take effect from September consumption. The average bill without taxes will go from 18.799 to 19.621 pesos. With taxes of at least 21%, the monthly bill will exceed 23.700 pesos.
