Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, aka Brooke and Peyton, are preparing a new season of the cult teen series of the 2000s.
Good news for those nostalgic for the 2000s. Netflix is developing a sequel to the cult teen series One Tree Hill, reports Variety. The news has been confirmed. on Instagram by one of the stars of the series, Sophia Bush.
Brooke’s interpreter will be one of the heroines of this sequel. She will give the reply to Hilarie Burton, aka Peyton. Also executive producers, the two actresses actively participate in the development of this new season.
It is unclear whether the rest of the original cast will return. According to the magazine’s information DeadlineChad Michael Murray would not be returning to play his role as Lucas Scott.
Reclaiming the series
With this sequel, Sophia Bush seems to want to reclaim the series while its creator, Mark Schwahn, was accused in 2017 of sexual harassment by part of the team.
“What if you had the opportunity to team up with brilliant people and build a space where all of our friends could showcase their talents? Own our story? Celebrate our fans?” she wrote.
Aired in the United States on the CW channel from 2003 to 2012, One Tree Hill lasted nine seasons. The series had been broadcast in France on TF1 before being available on Prime Video.
One Tree Hill focuses on the rivalry between Lucas and Nathan, two half-brothers who attended the same high school in North Carolina and played on the same basketball team.
