“Padel tennis in Mastaičiai is one of the 40 ideas presented by residents in 2024. This idea received the support of the residents and was among the six ideas that will be implemented by the municipality,” the municipality said in a comment to BNS.
According to her, the resident who offered to install padel cards argued that by installing a public playground for the game popular in Lithuania, local residents “will have motivation to meet more often in leisure spaces, improve communication skills, spend more time in the fresh air and thus improve the general sense of self-worth”.
The project documents indicate that the company that won the tender will have to install the paddle court within fifteen months, and the work is planned to start in 2025.

Padel appeared in Lithuania in 2013 when the first courts were built at Šarūnas Marčiulionis’ homestead, Dubingiai Tennis and Padel Club, and the Lithuanian Padel Tennis Federation, established in December 2013, began to develop this sport. The padel federation has been active in Lithuania since 2014, the country is represented in various tournaments by men’s, women’s and youth national teams.
