Moran Samuel: “If I could I would be silent, a minute of silence after what happened today”

exhausted After moving an entire country, Israel’s Paralympic rower, Moran Samuel, who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games today (Sunday), declared that she would not continue with another campaign and concluded a day that was both difficult and happy.

“This whole year is joy mixed with sadness,” Samuel said at the end, “If I could, I would be silent, a minute of silence after what happened today. It is a privilege to be here in this bubble and I feel it. To end it with a gold medal and to scream the national anthem is A great moment that I will not forget for the rest of my life.”

“The end of the race was difficult in terms of conditions. In the last seconds when you cross the line, you realize, and fall apart. During the anthem, I burst into uncontrollable tears, it’s all together. Even excitement, even the morning that passed us, it came out of me without control. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to sing the anthem.”

Samuel continued: “Gold in Rio, silver in Tokyo and now I complete it with the gold around my neck. It has been three complex years, this medal is not taken for granted after all the things we went through as a family even before the war. I have no way to describe how different this journey has been, and it strengthened me

“I want to pass this message on. I had a moment in my life when I said that my life was over and I had to make the switch to ‘life as I knew it is over’. More people need to make this switch.

“Be stronger than your excuses and doubts and work hard. You have to believe in life, be filled with hope. The Paralympic delegation can be a beacon of this. Los Angeles? Absolutely not. I declare that I have done my part, that they will come to inherit my place.”
