The administration of Nicolás Maduro also broke off diplomatic relations with Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, after these nations rejected the results presented by the head of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso, and urged that the minutes of the elections be published.

The countries have also requested that the will of the Venezuelan people be respected.

In response, Brazil also assumed the representation of Peru in the country, after it recognized Edmundo González Urrutia as president of Venezuela.
