Mayor of Torres, in Lara, denounces persecution against him

Javier Oropeza, Mayor of the Torres municipality (Lara state)denounced on social networks that he is a victim of persecution by state security forces.

The official said that, in case of an investigation, he should be informed about the matter and added that Their rights and guarantees must be respected.

“As a public servant, I am committed to the management I carry out as mayor of the Torres municipality and as a politician, I am a person attached to the values ​​of democracy and respect for the adversary”, wrote in your X account. “That is why I make a public appeal to the authorities that are leading the persecution of which I am a victim, to cease such acts and allow me to make use of my constitutional rights and guarantees, in order to clarify any fact that is the subject of investigation against me.”.

Oropeza mentioned the Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñañez, who recently asked the Public Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the mayor for alleged acts of violence in which the headquarters of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela in Carora was vandalized.

“The Mayor’s Office of Torres does not have a police force; neither do the police bodies and members of the military components in the region respond to my requests or demands, much less do they come to me because there is no subordination that allows me to demand their presence.”Oropeza concluded.
