The Champions League schedule is now known. There will be eight rounds, all of which will be played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, except for one, the first, which will also be played on Thursday (something absolutely unusual in the Champions League) and to which Barcelona (travels to Marseille) and Atlético de Madrid (hosts Leipzig) have been sent. Real Madrid will debut on Tuesday 17 September at home against Leipzig and Girona will travel to Paris to face PSG.
Each day of competition there will be two matches at 18:45 and the rest at 21:00, except for the last one, on January 29, when the 18 matches are scheduled at 9:00 p.m. on a day that could be historic and in which the final classification will be determined, with the 8 teams that go directly to the knockout stages and the remaining 16 (from position 9 to 25) that will play a double match for the other eight places.

New format
The new Champions League will open on 17 September with a new system and more money. Faced with the threat of the Super League, UEFA has decided to revolutionise the format and has also decided to increase the income for the clubs, to distribute 2.47 billion euros among the participants, with an increase of 21%.
The four-team group stage has been abolished, with the competition going from 32 to 36 clubs. Starting this season, a round-robin competition will take place, with two more matches in January, leading to the round of 16. Each team will face eight different opponents in the first phase (four home games and four away games). Afterwards, the competition will continue in the current format of two-legged knockout stages, until the final on 31 May 2025 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
