Genk –

On what is the last day of the summer transfer window in many countries, KRC Genk and Westerlo will each be without a player. They will open the sixth matchday on Friday evening without defender Cuesta and attacking leader Stassin respectively.

Carlos Cuesta was interested by Torino but the Serie A club never made an official offer to the Cegeka Arena. The Colombian, who has been playing for Genk for five years, is apparently struggling mentally. He passed on the friendly match against Fortuna and was also not ready to play for the match against Westerlo. Cuesta is not on a collision course with the club, he trained on Friday morning. On Saturday he will travel for international duties with Colombia, it is not yet clear whether he is still aiming for a transfer.

First, Cuesta is showered with flowers before kick-off against Westerlo for the birth of his son Paolo. He is flanked by Patrik Hrosovsky, who became the father of a second son, Christian Leon.

Lucas Stassin travelled to Saint-Etienne on Friday for medical and physical tests, which are negotiating with Westerlo about a transfer of the striker. Stassin should bring in ten million euros.(mg)
