Man fires at officers: Police shoot armed 46-year-old in Berlin-Nikolassee

During a SEK operation in Berlin-Nikolassee, a 46-year-old man was shot dead by police in his apartment.

According to police and prosecutors, the man threatened a 49-year-old with a firearm on Saturday morning at a caravan site on Potsdamer Chaussee. According to reports, the man chased the attacker away, followed him to an apartment building on Dreilindenstrasse and called the police.

When the SEK gained access to the man’s apartment at around 2:45 p.m. with a judge’s order, he is said to have immediately opened fire. The police fired back and fatally wounded the 46-year-old.

A special operations commando was deployed during the operation in Nikolassee.

Several ambulances and a rescue helicopter were on site. A homicide squad is investigating on behalf of the public prosecutor’s office, as is usual in such cases, police said.
