Spaniard Daniel Sancho has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a judge Thailand for the premeditated murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, as well as for two other crimes of which he was accused.
The judge at the Samui Provincial Court (southern Thailand) reduced the sentence from death to life imprisonment due to the defendant’s cooperation with the investigation.

Sancho, 30, attended the hearing accompanied by his father, Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, and his mother, investment analyst Silvia Bronchalo, as well as the Thai public defender who represents him in the Asian country, Apichart Srinual.
Security measures and access to the courtroom were much stricter today than during the trial, which took place between April 9 and May 2, in which Sancho had argued that Arrieta’s death was due to an accident that occurred during a fight.
