In a firm step aimed at enhancing transparency, the Administrative Court in Casablanca issued a decision on Wednesday morning, August 28, 2024, to dismiss a number of presidents and members of elected councils in the Casablanca-Settat region. This decision included a group of local officials, based on an urgent request submitted by the workers of the regions to which these elected officials belong.
According to reliable sources, this decision came after careful investigations conducted by the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration, which submitted negative reports indicating the existence of irregularities and conflicts of interest.
The court based its decision on Article 64 of the Organic Law, which stipulates the necessity of removing elected officials if they are proven to be involved in practices that violate the law.
The dismissal decision included Nourredine Moufdal, president of the Ouled Si Yahia commune in Sidi Bennour province, and Abdel Latif Laroui, president of the Ouled Zidane commune in Berrechid province. Bouchaib Mezouz, a member of the Ouled Zidane commune in Nouaceur province, and Abdel Hamid El Azab, a member of the Ouled Azouz commune in Berrechid province, were also dismissed.
Other members included in the decision include Abdel Rahim Atiq and Hanan Kamir, members of the Dar Bouazza community in Nouaceur province, and Abdelkader Ben Ahnia, a member of the Ouled Azouz community in the same province. The decision also included Mohamed Qatrib, president of the Ouled Azouz community in Nouaceur province, and Abdel Latif Qilash, a member of the Settat community in Settat province.
This decision is a clear message from the administrative and judicial authorities on the necessity of adhering to the laws and respecting the rules of integrity in managing local affairs, and reflects the state’s keenness to confront corruption and violations with all firmness and strictness.
