Gur Ghathri is a historical building in the center of Peshawar, which has preserved the imprints of different eras and rulers even today.
Adam Khan, a student from Peshawar, made a short film about the building which was awarded the seventh position in the ‘National Amateur Short Film Festival 2022’.
He received the award from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on December 26 in the presence of many important personalities.
Adam Khan, one of the 15 winning students, said in an exclusive interview with Independent Urdu that this is actually a joint project of ISPR and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, sponsored this year by Sultan Ahmed Bin Salim, the head of ‘Dubai Port World’. What’s more, successful students will be sent abroad to study filmmaking.
According to Adam Khan, who won the seventh position in the undergraduate category of the competition, ‘4000 applications were received from all over Pakistan in this competition, while 1200 videos were sent. Out of these, top 70 videos were selected and in further shortlisting, 30 were selected and the makers were invited to Islamabad where the top 15 videos were selected in the final. I secured the seventh position among these 15 which is the first position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.’

‘My father Hanif Baloch has been with me every step of the way and guided me. I produced this film by investing 40 thousand rupees from my own pocket, from the script to the recording and editing, I did everything myself.

Adam Khan says that he will go to Australia to get advanced training in filmmaking and will return and train other students in Pakistan.
