The company signs it X.
The launch was originally supposed to take place on Monday, but was then postponed to Tuesday due to a helium leak in equipment on the ground at NASA’s space center in Florida. It was then postponed until Wednesday night local time.
Now it has been postponed once more due to the weather.
– Our team will continue to monitor the weather for favorable conditions for both launch and return, writes SpaceX further.
The highlight of the expedition, which has been named Polaris Dawn, is expected two days after launch, when the astronauts will carry out the world’s first private space walk. The walk itself is expected to last 20 minutes and will take place 700 kilometers away from the earth’s surface.
Only government astronauts have done spacewalks until now, most recently at the International Space Station (ISS), where maintenance work is regularly carried out in space.
Among the four participating in the Polaris Dawn expedition is billionaire Jared Isaacman. He has financed the trip. Isaacman himself has refused to comment on what it has cost, but it is estimated that the cost is over 100 million dollars.
He brings Scott Poteet as pilot on the mission, along with SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.
