Collapsing rail traffic

As we have already reported, the Claudiopolis InterCity, which runs from Cluj-Napoca to Budapest, with more than 50 years old cars, derailed on Sunday evening. One of the passengers reported in a Facebook group that at a switch near Keleti railway station, the front axle of the first car was on one rail, while its rear axle was already on another rail.

MÁV held a press conference on Monday afternoon regarding the derailed InterCity. Zoltán Pafféri, the general manager of MÁV, said that traffic is expected to resume on Tuesday morning, while Réka Németh, the deputy general manager for track operation and investment, said that based on the initial visual inspection, a piece of the switch broke off, but it is not known what the reason is. or the cause.

On Monday morning, another accident occurred: A person was hit by a train traveling between Kassa and Hatvan near Mezőkövesd, the InterCity passengers were transported through Miskolc with the help of emergency responders. There were also problems at the Nyugati railway station, but according to Mávinform, the schedule will probably be restored by early Monday afternoon on the Cegléd line, where until now trains could only run on one track due to a track fault.

According to former candidate for mayor Dávid Vitézy, “Hungarian railway transport is collapsing before our eyes”.
