On the other hand, the national highway connecting Quetta with Karachi in Pakistan’s southern province of Balochistan has been opened for traffic by the Levies administration according to local authorities.

As a result of the recent violent attacks in Balochistan, levies patrolling and security have been increased on the national highway and Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and other officials are present on the spot.

Assistant Commissioner Mastung Muhammad Akram Harifal told the media that the armed men attacked Khad Kocha Levis police station which was foiled.

According to reports, the armed men opened fire at Levis police station and Azizabad. However, the attackers escaped due to the retaliatory fire of the security forces. There was no loss of life or property in the attack.

In a statement, the organization claimed to have arrested the officials of the Khadkocha Levies police station in Mastung and captured the police station.

Militants killed 39 people in separate incidents in Musakhel, Mastung, Bolan and Kalat in a single day while 21 militants were killed in retaliatory action by security forces. 14 security personnel also lost their lives.

Cases against eight incidents of terrorist activities in several districts of Balochistan were registered in the police station of the Anti-Terrorism Department.

According to the news agency AFP, Pakistani forces are busy tracking down the militants involved in the attacks.

Kia Baloch, an analyst and former journalist who monitors militancy in the province, told AFP that the authorities were only using force to quell the two-decade-old conflict rather than seek a political solution.

“This approach has led to an increase in retaliatory acts by the youth and has fueled the insurgency rather than reducing it,” he said.

“Never before have there been so many coordinated attacks in several districts of Balochistan.”

Meanwhile, in a conversation in Lahore, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, in response to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement, said that things like ‘killing police officers’ will worsen the situation.

He insisted that all resources should be the right of the local population.

Balochistan, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran, is a backward province of Pakistan despite its abundance of natural resources, lagging behind the rest of the country in terms of education, employment and economic development.

Baloch separatists have stepped up attacks in recent years on Pakistanis from neighboring provinces working in the region, as well as foreign energy companies, including deadly attacks on Chinese nationals.
