The conference is organized by General Christopher G. Cavoli, Commander of the US Army Europe Command, who is also the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and General Onno Eichelsheim, Commander of the Netherlands Army.
As announced, during the sessions, the prospects of support for Ukraine will be discussed, with a strong focus on Ukrainian training projects, China’s influence on security in the region, as well as the EU military mobility initiative, which requires the efforts of all Northern European countries, which is focused on the development of maritime and airport infrastructure, which can ensure a smoother flow of allies. mobility.
During the conference, the NATO air defense rotation model will be discussed, inviting the countries to contribute to the development of this model and thereby ensuring the security of the international airspace over the Baltic Sea. Issues of cyber defense in the context of ensuring the security of data flows and technologies in the context of climate change and the war in Ukraine will also be discussed.
The chief non-commissioned officers of the countries also meet at the conference of the Nordic countries – Sergeant Major Remigijus Katinas will represent the Lithuanian army at the event. They will discuss the importance of NCO development in light of threats and the changing security situation, recruitment and retention, NCO effectiveness and development.
Conferences of Northern European military commanders are held once a year on the basis of country rotation, and are usually attended by the military commanders of Denmark, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany and the Director General of the Defense Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland.
