MEXICO CITY.- In different operations, elements of the Mexican Army and the National Guard they stopped in the north of Sonora to 23 alleged members of criminal groups operating in the municipalities of Santa Ana y Eatamong them seven minors.
On August 7th, in two coordinated operations by authorities of Sonora in a property in the municipality of Santa Ana, 19 people were arrestedincluding four minors, who apparently form part of an organized crime group.
Days later – on August 11 – another operation was carried out by the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) y National guard in the municipality of Eat where three minors were arrested, allegedly recruited as hitmen.
This August 19, the journalist Azucena Uresti shared a video where the FGR delegate in Sonora, Francisco Sergio Mendezconfirmed that the child hitmen are in custody and are between 11 and 13 years old.
She explained that every time the topic comes up she asks herself “where are the parents?”, because she explained that although the penal consequences do not reach the parents, it is their responsibility.
“There is a responsibility on their part here, because They do not have surveillance which corresponds to a parent, that is the issue, what are the 11 and 12 year old children doing with the criminal groups,” he said.
Finally, he urged parents to pay attention to their children’s activities, because minors should not be part of criminal groups.
