The Louis Vuitton Cup kicks off on Friday 29 August: the winner will challenge Team New Zealand to win the 2024 America’s Cup. Now it’s getting serious. After the preliminary regattas, a sort of ‘summer friendlies’, Red Moon he throws himself into the sea of Barcelona to chase the dream ofAmerica’s Cup. But first they have to earn access to the final against holders New Zealand, passing through the Louis Vuitton Cup. Whoever emerges as the winner of this tournament will be the official challenger from October 12th to 21st in Taihoro.
The format of the Louis Vuitton Cup
Il Round Robin, which will also take place in New Zealand (but out of the rankings) will take place from August 29th to September 8th with ‘back and forth’ challenges. The top four ranked access the semi-finals (the first one chooses the challenger) from 14th to 19th September, best of 9 challenges and the final from September 26th to October 5th (best of 13). Whoever wins the role of official challenger for Team New Zealand will compete in the America’s Cup Final, October 12-21.
