DC unveils variant covers for the Absolute series and the controversial new Batman logo

DC’s Absolute Universe is about to begin, following the events of Absolute Power, and will begin with a special issue, titled ‘All In’, which will be released in North American bookstores this year. There is still no news about when it will arrive in Spain, pending confirmation from the publisher that owns the rights to DC, ECC Ediciones, but we continue to learn details of the three collections that will make up this alternative universe that will be the equivalent of Marvel’s Ultimate.

New details about DC’s Absolute Universe

So far, a handful of variant covers have been released for all three series, Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman – the DC Trinity – by artists such as Jim Lee and Wes Craig. These represent the toughest, most modern versions of the brand’s three star characters. “We’ve been working on this for the last two years,” said DC writer Scott Snyder. “The idea is to create the biggest leap for you in many, many years.”

Snyder himself will be in charge of the ‘Absolute Batman’ collection, which will show us an alternative version of the character that will attract a lot of attention, since it will be played by a Bruce Wayne who is not a multimillionaire. However, that is not the only change that will surprise fans, and the design of the logo, eminently square and not very stylized, is already giving a lot to talk about.

Meanwhile, Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval will be in charge of handling the destiny of ‘Absolute Superman’, in a universe where the Man of Steel has no family or home. This series asks whether, without family or emotional ties, he will have the same impetus for justice and good.

Meanwhile, ‘Absolute Wonder Woman’ reveals a Diana who is also homeless, who knows no paradise on the island of Themyscira, and who has been trained in the hardest way possible. This universe, in which the Amazons are not a united sisterhood, will be brought to life by Eisner Award winner Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman.
