Increased security for Trump –

WASHINGTON (EFE).— The United States Secret Service approved a plan to increase the security of former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump (2017-2021) that includes the use of bulletproof glass screens at his rallies, the newspaper “The Washington Post” reported yesterday.

Typically, such bulletproof sheets are only provided to presidents and vice presidents when deemed necessary for outdoor appearances.

The New York tycoon was wounded in the ear after a young man shot him on July 13 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The attacker was on a roof outside the venue and before being shot down by law enforcement he killed one member of the public and injured another.

The then director of the US Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, ended up resigning ten days later due to security errors at that meeting and after having stated that this assassination attempt represented the “biggest operational failure” of the agency “in decades”.

Trump has not appeared at an outdoor campaign rally since that day.

The Washington Post added that the Secret Service will also add other resources to its security detail that are not normally provided for presidential candidates. Its Secret Service source did not go into details, but according to the newspaper, these measures would include the use of drones.

ABC News added that it is unclear when the new deployment will come into effect.

Trump has held indoor rallies since his assassination attempt, but has publicly acknowledged his desire to resume outdoor events.

“They would prefer us to be in a stadium, but we are not going to give up on outdoor events. All those people we had to turn away today could have been at an outdoor event,” he said on June 31 at a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

On the other hand, Trump assured yesterday that if the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris wins the elections, he will apply policies “of Venezuela or the Soviet Union (USSR)” in the United States.

Kamala Harris “is running with (Nicolás) Maduro’s plan. We call it the Maduro plan, it’s something straight out of Venezuela or the Soviet Union,” she said.
