FCV Dender lost its unbeaten status against Club Brugge. Although the promoted team had mixed feelings after the match.
Understandable, because Dender was – except for the first 20 minutes – certainly not without a chance. “Of course we are disappointed with the result. We absolutely deserved a point”, said coach Vincent Euvrard after the match. “They kill us at two moments where we make a mistake ourselves.”
“Two times that we have to position ourselves better,” said Euvrard, who also excused goalkeeper Michael Verrips’ mistake. “That he is not good on high balls? He was very confident in the last four matches.”
“Today he made a mistake and he knows that he can do better there. That’s just how it goes with a goalkeeper. We are absolutely not worried about his level in the coming weeks and months.”
Euvrard almost saw his club grab another point, but Ordonez prevented that. “We have to keep up the intensity of today. And with the quality we showed, we will grab many more points.”
Euvrard was happy with the performance, but knows that he has to keep getting results to stay out of trouble. “That’s why this is a bit of a mental blow. Every point is welcome when you play a match like this. And then you have to grab it. On the other hand, there is also a certain satisfaction about the way in which it happened.”
