In the early hours of Monday 26th, the head of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Juan Carlos Delpino, issued a statement regarding the results of the last presidential elections.
The CNE rector, through his account on the social network X said, “I maintain my unwavering commitment to the Venezuelan people” and attached a two-page document.
In this regard, he stressed that there is no evidence of the results of the July 28 elections, since they were not included in the totaling room.
His decision not to attend the counting room and the proclamation of the results is based on the lack of evidence supporting the announced results and his disagreement with the process.
CNE Rector on rules and regulations
In his statement, Juan Carlos Delpino said that the electoral process, although initially conducted with few incidents, suffered serious problems after the closing of the voting tables.
According to the Rector, there were violations of essential rules and regulations, including the eviction of opposition witnesses.
The statement also addresses the lack of timely publication of polling station results and the suspension of crucial audits.
It also highlights the need for a thorough review of the process by international observers and electoral technicians.
He also referred to his absence from the call in relation to the appeal filed before the electoral chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
“I did not attend the meeting because I believe that the resolution of the conflict should be done within the electoral body itself,” he said.
