– I have spoken to both parties this morning. There are no new meetings planned yet, but I hope that the parties will soon be ready to talk again, wrote national mediator Mats Ruland in a text message to NRK Sunday afternoon.
Fellesforbundet and Parat confirm to NTB that they have had contact with the Riksmekleren over the phone on Sunday.
– Telephone contact is the only thing we’ve had, wrote leader Jørn-Henning Eggum in the Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions to NTB at 1.30pm.
– We have no meetings with the Ombudsman or SAS so far, he added.
155 cabin crew are on strike
The unions Parat and Fellesforbundet have informed NTB that 155 members have been called out on strike this weekend. Fellesforbundet has withdrawn 115 people, and Parat has withdrawn 40 people. This makes up 20 per cent of the cabin crew who are members of these unions.
As planned, the strike will be stepped up sharply from Wednesday at 6 a.m. There will then be 550 striking SAS employees organized in the Fellesforbundet and approximately 240 organized in Parat, both parties confirm to NTB.
– There is no basis for having another meeting now. Then there must be a new offer from the employer, says manager Martinus Røkkum for the SAS Norge cabin association in Parat at 18:00 on Sunday to NTB.
Parat believes SAS is engaging in strike-breaking
According to Parat, SAS must have sent information to its employees that they must use cabin crew who are not members of the SAS Norway Cabin Association in Parat or the Fellesforbundet. Parat believes this is strike-breaking and warns of international action.
They are critical of SAS using employees from neighboring countries to replace strikers and warn of consequences for the company beyond Norway’s borders.
– The definition of strike-breaking is that tasks that are usually carried out by people on strike are carried out by someone else, Parat leader Unn Kristin Olsen points out in a press release.
This is planning to break the strike, says leader Martinus Røkkum for the SAS Norway Cabin Association in Parat.
– Almost all cabin crew in Norway are organised. In practice, this means that SAS is now planning to use Swedish and Danish employees to carry out the tasks of those of us who are on strike, he says.
SAS: Does not recognize himself in the accusations
SAS press manager Øystein Schmidt does not recognize the accusations from Parat.
– We can reject that in cash. We do not engage in strike-breaking, he says to NTB.
He claims that the company does not reallocate more than usual.
– Redeployment of crew is a normality in the company. We have authority for this in the collective agreement, says Schmidt.
SAS Norge says that they recognize that the cabin crew have low wages, and that they are determined to give them real wage growth, although they cannot go into details outside of the negotiations.
– We are positive about the signals from the national mediator before the weekend. We want to return to the negotiating table. Nobody wants a strike, says Øystein Schmidt to NTB.
The LO leader meets SAS strikers
SAS canceled over 40 departures on Sunday due to the strike, both domestic and international routes. Also on Monday there are already some settings. According to TV 2, 21 of Monday’s departures have been canceled for the time being.
At Gardermoen, LO leader Peggy Hessen Følsvik will meet striking cabin crew on Monday morning.
The leader will meet the strike guards between 7.30 and 8.30, LO informs NTB.
