Lahore High Court restrained PCB from collecting security fee from franchisees

The Lahore High Court has issued notices to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other parties on the request of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchisees.

Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi of Lahore High Court heard the application of PSL franchises.

Counsel for the board, Tafazul Rizvi, raised an objection to the admissibility of the petitions and pointed out that the petitioning owners should speak to the cricket board officials instead of the court.

In the petition, it is feared that this move of PCB will cause financial loss to the franchises, the sixth season of PSL may be canceled due to unilateral decisions of PCB.

During the hearing, PCB’s counsel Tafazul Rizvi told the court that the franchisees were invited to redress the grievances on the financial model in good faith, as per the agreement, the forum for resolving the issue between PCB and the franchisees is the initiation of arbitration.

According to the spokesperson of the board, the PCB has taken the position in the court that the petition filed by the franchisees should be rejected and will submit its written statement in the court on September 30. The PCB wants a viable solution to the matter but the franchisees Was surprised to approach the court.

The court issued notices to the Pakistan Cricket Board and other parties and restrained the board from taking disciplinary action against the franchise owners for the time being.

Further processing of the application will take place on September 30.

It should be noted that yesterday all 6 franchises of PSL approached the Lahore High Court against the financial agreement of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
