With the 2-0 win against Liefering, the Innviertel team celebrated their fourth win in four games – and have also not conceded a goal in nine matches.
The difference against the Young Bulls was made by the players who came on from the bench: Wilfried Eza came on in the 68th minute instead of Saliou Sane and scored two goals (75th, 95th) to become the Vikings’ match winner. Substitute Nemanja Celic also had a hand in Ried’s opening goal. “The quality we can bring from the bench is one of the most important things that can speak for us in the end,” says Ried sports director Wolfgang Fiala. “Everyone has to put themselves at the service of the team and accept their current role.”
The entire Ried team was particularly happy for double goalscorer Eza: The 27-year-old African had started summer preparations late due to a private incident and was also out of action for several weeks due to a splinter in his heel bone. But the striker never lost his smile. Fiala: “He’s in a good mood every day, an extremely positive guy and very popular within the team.”
And although Ried’s squad is already top-notch, sporting director Fiala wants to react once again in the transfer window: “We have a clear idea of how we want to replace Belmin Beganovic.”
