YouTube creators who have had their channels accessed without permission now have a new AI-powered tool that will allow them to recover their accounts.
“This tool will guide you through a series of questions about you and your channel to first secure your Google login and undo any changes the hacker made to your channel,” explained Google technical supportthe parent company of YouTube.
Strengthening security for YouTube profiles
In addition to helping you regain access, this virtual assistant will also help improve account protection by adding several additional layers of security to prevent future attacks.
Google said Wednesday that the support tool will initially be available only to “eligible creators,” though it did not specify the criteria for this selection.
For now, access to this feature will only be provided through the English version of the YouTube Help Center. “We are working to make it available to all users in the future,” the company added.
Complaints from YouTube creators persist
According to specialist site The Verge, which had the opportunity to test the tool, it acts as a “fairly standard support chatbot.”
However, The Verge also highlighted that this solution does not address one of the biggest complaints from content creators: the difficulty of obtaining direct support from a YouTube representative.
Currently, only the most influential creators can speak to an agent in person, leaving smaller channels limited to using help pages to resolve their issues.
