A new conflict has erupted between the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis and the president of SYRIZA Stefanos Kasselakis over the death of a tourist, after an altercation in a tavern.
Stefanos Kasselakis, with his message on social media, had asked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to immediately dismiss Adonis Georgiadis as Minister of Health, on the occasion of his statements that there is no doctor at the regional clinic on the weekend, which, as he noted, has been the case “since the establishment of YOU”.
In particular, he states: “Mr. Mitsotakis, the statement of the far-right that you made Minister of Health, “the patient had a stroke on Sunday and there are no doctors on weekends, no state can have doctors everywhere”, is an extreme example of cynicism. I know that with Mr. Georgiadis you share the same cynicism and the same lack of empathy (we saw it from Tempi to Penteli), but this particular statement can only be “cured” by his immediate dismissal.
Mr. Mitsotakis, the far-right statement that you made health minister “the patient had a stroke on Sunday and there are no doctors on weekends, no state can have doctors everywhere” is an extreme example of cynicism.
I know that you and Mr. Georgiadis share the same cynicism…— Stefanos Kasselakis (@skasselakis) August 23, 2024
The response from Adonis Georgiadis did not take long to come and he initially characterized the Kasselakis statement as an “Akron Aoton monument of populism”, while he pointed out that “don’t see human tragedies as your political lifeline is a shame”.
The post of Adonis Georgiadis reads as follows: “Akron Aoton is a monument of populism: I said what is true, that is, in the Regional Clinics we have had doctors since the establishment of the NHS Monday-Friday. In S/K the residents are served by the nearest Health Centers. This did not happen during my term of office, but it was always the case during Syriza as well.
In this specific incident, there is no responsibility of the NHS, nor any lack of a doctor. The extradited woman was stopped in a tavern, she had special issues, which due to medical confidentiality I do not disclose and although the nurse from the Regional Clinic was there for first aid in 4′ and the EKAV ambulance from KY Domokou in 20′, she was not its retraction possible as it had already passed away.
Mr. Kasselakis, because you have internal party problems, don’t see human tragedies as your political lifeline, it’s a shame.”
