The government has decided to contribute funds so that Nammo can transfer technology and expertise to a Ukrainian partner. The initiative is financed through the Nansen programme, it is stated in one press release.
Nammo has entered into an agreement which facilitates a Ukrainian defense company to obtain a license to produce 155 millimeter artillery shells in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense informs.
– Now Nammo wants to share its recipe with Ukraine. This means that Ukrainian forces can get supplies faster, says Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp).
– Nammo is proud to be able to share technology and expertise that will help strengthen Ukraine in its defense struggle, adds Group CEO Morten Brandtzæg in Nammo.
The artillery ammunition is to be used by Ukrainian forces. It is the government that has decided that the recipe for Norwegian artillery shells is to be shared with Ukraine.
– Ukraine has a great need for artillery ammunition to be able to stand up to the Russian war of aggression. This government has taken several measures to increase the production of artillery ammunition in Norway. At the same time, we see that it is important to strengthen the Ukrainians’ ability to produce modern artillery ammunition in Ukraine, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap).
It was in March that the Government opened the door for Norwegian defense companies to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a license for technology transfer to Ukraine.
