In the early hours of August 22, two women were kidnapped when they took a taxi in the El Poblado neighborhood, Medellín.
The incident occurred when the women got into the car. A man came out of the trunk of the taxi and threatened them with a firearm.
The situation quickly became critical as the victims were left at the mercy of the kidnappers.

The surveillance police were alerted by the suspicious activity of the vehicle. A patrol decided to intervene and even provoke a chase.
During the chase, the women and one of the kidnappers jumped out of the moving car.
The victims were treated by the authorities on the scene, while the criminals were captured.
The alleged perpetrators, identified as JD Patiño and DE Pérez, were arrested for the crimes of simple kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms and qualified and aggravated theft.

The vehicle was intercepted shortly after, and upon inspection, the patrolmen found three cell phones and a firearm, elements that revealed the modus operandi of the kidnappers.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the phones belonged to three women who had been victims of theft in the same way hours before.
Both men did not accept the charges, but the evidence gathered by the prosecution, together with the testimony of the victims, led a judge to order their confinement in a prison.
