While the four-day Democratic convention in Chicago is raging, the marathon convention that has confirmed Kamala Harris as Donald Trump’s challenger, Joe Biden’s vice president is breathing a sigh of relief, avoiding another difficult obstacle in her already rather easy navigation towards the White House. Yes, because at the top of the company stands out the name of the important and feared official Dana Walden, who also happens to be one of Kamala’s best friends. Walden, who has organized fundraisers for Biden’s vice president until at least 2022, aspires to become the next CEO of the company when Robert A. Iger’s term expires in 2026. And the timing is rather peculiar, given that during that period her partner could be president of the United States.

In the US, there have been cries of conflict of interest from many quarters, highlighting the very close relationship between Walden and Harris, and the possibility that, in the prime time confrontation with Trump, the Democratic candidate will be advantaged by the role of superintendent of ABC, held by the official. The network hastened to deny any interference, pointing out that Dana Walden deals with technical issues related to the budget and personnel, without any say in the editorial line. Needless to say, the press release has not convinced anyone.

In addition to her close relationship with Walden, Harris has a formidable consensus machine and extremely influential friends behind her.
