OÖN readers have known about it for a long time, and now it has been officially confirmed: FC Blau-Weiß Linz is strengthening its squad with a goalkeeper from the English Premier League club Manchester United: 20-year-old Radek Vitek was signed on loan until the end of the season. In the summer of 2020, the Czech U20 national team player moved to England and was trained there by Manchester United. He played a total of 22 games in the Premier League 2 for Manchester United’s U21 team and was a permanent part of the Premier League team’s squad in the last two pre-seasons.
Sporting director Christoph Schösswendter: “With Radek we are getting a very talented young goalkeeper who has already gained a lot of experience in England and is, among other things, part of the goalkeeping team of Manchester United’s first team. His skills and strengths fit very well with the profile we are looking for and I am sure that he will be a reinforcement and will soon reach his full potential. Getting a player from Manchester United also shows that we have done a lot of things right as a club and are on the right track.”
