Asuncion, IP Agency.- Paraguay continues to experience a downward trend in dengue cases, however, the Ministry of Health stresses the need to not neglect actions to control mosquito breeding sites.
The weekly Health Surveillance report indicates that at the end of the last two weeks (SE) 30 and 31, 36 cases with a diagnosis of dengue were identified, observing a downward trend of 39%.
The cases were identified in Asuncion, Central, Ñeembucú, Paraguarí, Amambay and Caaguazú, according to the report socialized by the health portfolio.
During this period, 46 patients were hospitalized, of which 8 were diagnosed with the dengue virus.
The most affected group is the pediatric age group, from 5 to 9 years, with a predominance of females. No deaths were confirmed at the end of these two weeks.
In light of the above, the Ministry of Health reminds that, despite this epidemiological moment, it is important to maintain constant surveillance of cases and not neglect actions to control mosquito breeding sites, because the circulation of the virus is still present in several regions of the country and this situation is observed throughout the year.
Introduction of oropouche
Regarding the risk of introduction of oropouche into the national territory, due to the cases registered in Brazil and other countries in the region, Paraguay is actively monitoring vulnerable populations, such as the border population and people with a history of recent travel to places where the virus is circulating.
So far, there have been no reported cases of oropouche in the country.
