Motorists are advised to allow extra time towards Oslo on Monday

The Norwegian Road Administration’s traffic map showed queues all the way from Drammen to Oslo on Sunday afternoon, writes Aftenposten. The queue was not stationary, but moved slowly forward, according to the newspaper.

This summer there has been quite a queue on Sundays from Asker to Sandvika, confirms traffic operator Mette Brunes.

– When you come to Sandvika, it all clears up, she says.

There have been no traffic incidents causing the queue. It is common to have quite a queue towards Oslo on Sundays, and in addition it was the last day of the holiday for many, she explains to NRK. According to the channel, motorists had to queue for almost an hour from Engelsrud in Asker to Lysaker.

The traffic map shows that there was also a queue or heavy traffic from the south on the E6 and Mosseveien.

On Monday, most people are back at work after the summer holidays, and it is also the start of school. The advice from the traffic operator is to include it in the calculation.

– It’s probably a good idea to have a little extra time tomorrow, I think that’s certainly smart, says Brunes to Aftenposten.

In July, ring 1 in Oslo closed, and it was no longer allowed to drive electric cars in the public transport lane on the E18. Many feared that the queues would build up significantly. For now, you can’t notice a huge difference, says Brunes.

– There have been some extra queues on the E18, but the severe traffic challenges have not been there until now. We’ll see tomorrow, she says.
