NBA Boston Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell rated his former Houston Rockets teammate Hakeem Olajuwon as better than Nikola Jokic.
Cassell lent his voice to a hypothetical matchup between Olajuwon and Jokic during an appearance on Le spectacle de Draymond Greensaying Olajuwon would be considered better than Jokic because of his overall impact on the court.

He recalled that Olajuwon ranked high in various NBA categories, including steals, rebounds and points, describing him as a dominant force.
“Hakeem is a beast in every way on the court. He’s in the top 10 in every NBA category: steals, rebounds, points,” Cassell said.
He credited Jokic’s basketball prowess, acknowledging he could score more points but believing Olajuwon’s relentless pressure would be decisive.
“I think Jokic would score more points, but Hakeem would win because he would constantly put pressure on him. Jokic wouldn’t be able to do any damage in the post; it just wouldn’t happen.
