Usher Cohen is talented, but not yet ready for the big stage of Park Yarkon

Last night (Thursday) rose Osher Cohen On the stage of the Hayarkon Park, and it turns out that even after a series of shows at the Menorah Hall, Caesarea, live at Rashlatz Park and a chain of hits leading the parades – Cohen is still not ready for the big stage of the park.

Cohen is not the first to open a show in Yarkon Park, and it seems that the attempt to dream big and make it come true, moves the generation of young singers on their minds. The stage of Hayarkon Park is no small thing, and Cohen’s performance last night seemed like the whim of a young star. Cohen, who sang in front of 55,000 people, “What do you do with a boy who gets fucked at the age of 20” is apparently looking for an answer to the question. I will say and say that the big stage is not another sad heartbreak, but a big step in a career that should be cherished. Regarding the broken heart, with an extensive career like his, I wish him to only continue to experience heartbreaks, write about them and grow from them. But, regarding the performance in the park, it is necessary and desirable to start arriving on time and to respect the audience that invests the best of its money and is excited to respect it.

In the face of the security concerns and in the shadow of the heavy threat from the missiles to cancel the concert, it was the fear of the security forces and the municipality of Tel Aviv, about 55 thousand excited fans. It seemed that the preparation of the Tel Aviv municipality and the security forces in blocking the roads, banning the sale of alcohol in the complex and the amount of forces deployed exceeded the creative preparation. The giant screens did not work continuously throughout the performance. So most viewers did not get to see the talented dancers and what was happening on stage. When the screens did work, the choice of video art was very strange and did not add to the whole show.

Osher Cohen: the new Israeli mainstream

After an hour of waiting in the heavy heat and a warm-up show that was more rhythmic and engrossing than the entire performance, the young singer went on stage and declared: “You don’t understand what I see, the excitement cannot be hidden.” Cohen, who was indeed moved by the occasion, kept checking to see if everyone was enjoying themselves, but it seemed that he had forgotten to enjoy himself. Among huge hits such as “Mangan Vesher”, “Plastrim”, “Look my love”, “So and so”, “Love”, “Accords in Nights”, which were played without an adapted arrangement and at a very low volume, the song “Dance” especially stood out. The entire performance was dedicated to the heroic soldiers, the rescue forces, the abductees, the martyrs of Israel’s systems. So the song “Dance” was given a place of honor and a special clip that was prepared in advance and reminded of the painful and sad reality we live in. In the clip, a young dancer appeared whose image merged with the one dancing on the stage, this was the first and only time it was evident that there was thought behind the position on the stage.

At the same time, Cohen is a huge musician and beyond the great collaborations with Eden Hasson and Lior Narkis who were guests last night, the artist Mark Eliyahu came up. The two played together on stage, with Cohen playing a Turkish baglama and Eliyahu playing an instrument known as a kamancha. The use of special musical instruments bring the listener on a journey towards a world of sounds in distant regions that mainly teach about the talent of the young singer. If that wasn’t enough, Cohen continued to play the piano and in the moments he danced alongside his musicians it was evident that he felt at home.

The young singer is the hottest name in the industry and not because of his repeated appearances in the gossip sections. Cohen is a vocalist of the first rank, and has an extraordinary talent in everything related to musicality. In the meantime, even when the performance was at a low frequency and it was obvious that the evening was not able to rise, Cohen flirted with the highs and played with the curls and knew how to carry the audience.

The absolute majority of the people in the crowd were young people who are doubtless excited by the arrival in the big city and doubtless that this is the performance of the young singer, but what is certain is that without the devoted audience who did not stop shouting the words, Cohen would not have made it through the evening.
